We will be met at the cruise port by our tour guides and private coach to begin our day.
We begin our day with a stop at Two Lovers Point.
Legend has it that two lovers tied their long black hair into a single knot and leaped over the long, deep cliff into the roaring waters below.
This was to avoid an arranged marriage to another man. To this day, they remain a symbol of true love in which two souls are entwined forever in life and in death. Guests can purchase hearts at the location - writing their names and short messages is believed to bring eternal love and happiness. The hearts are locked around the walls of the park.
Next is Fort Apugan an 1800s Fort. The view from this point is beautiful. The fort provides an incredible view of the capital village of Hagåtña, the Philippine Sea, and the northern cliff lines of Oka Point and Urunao Point. Fort Santa Agueda, the only surviving Spanish fort in Hagåtña, sits atop Apugan Hill on the western coast of Guam.
Then its on to Latte Stone Park. Latte stones are the limestone pillars used by the Chamarro people as foundations for their homes dating as far back as 500 A.D., are displayed at this park.. Unique to the region, these architectural ruins have become cultural icons. A latte stone is a two part rock pillar made up of cap stone, which is called the tasa in the Chamorro language, and the post is called the haligi. Some people believe that they were used as a kind of tombstone. They would bury their beloved and place a latte stone on their grave.
We then make our way to Plaza de Espana
Plaza de España, a 350-year-old plaza where the Governor's Palace stood during Spain's reign. Guam was the first American soil lost in the war. The site where US surrendered to Japan in 1941 is marked. It also has a burst of Duglas Macarthur, Guam heroes monument and a monument to wake island defenders from Guam. It was the location of the Governors Palace during the island's long period of Spanish occupation. Most of the palace was destroyed during the shelling of Hagåtña during the reconquest of Guam in World War II. There are three structures still standing including the three-arch gate to Almacen (Arsenal), the azotea or back porch, and the Chocolate House
Agana Cathedral (Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral Basilica) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Guam. It is the seat of the archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Agaña. It is located on the site where the island's first Catholic church was constructed in 1669, under the guidance of Padre San Vitore
Then its a visit to War in the Pacific National Historic Park and Museum
This commemorates the bravery and sacrifice of all those who participated in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The park also conserves and interprets a variety amazing resources found on Guam, for all to enjoy.
Museum exhibits are highly interactive and feature the latest technology, gripping personal stories, museum artifacts, and multiple language support.
In addition to the exhibits, the visitor center theater plays our compelling 10-minute movie, The Battle for Guam, with captions in five languages.
We will visit the beaches of Asan were one of the landing sites of American forces in the 1944 Battle of Guam. Explore the Asan Bay Overlook, where a bronze relief sculpture illustrates the liberation of Guam. Visit Asan Beach Unit to see artifacts and tributes, including the U.S. Landing Monument.
